2010: So far, not so good for movies.

Movies I've seen (for the first time) in 2010 so far: 4

1. Alice in Wonderland (Tim Burton, 2010)
Probable meta-plot: Imagination in cinema is realized through extensive graphic effects.

"Just remember, this movie isn't about you."

2. Shutter Island (Martin Scorsese, 2010)
Probable meta-plot: Perception of perspective directly affects the response of the viewer

"So y'see, the premise of the movie is that we're detectives."

3. Iron Man (Jon Favreau, 2008)
Probable meta-plot: The creator of technological effects/advancements has great power... and great responsibility. Against terrorists.

You are healed!

4. The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus (Terry Gilliam, 2009)
Probable meta-plot: You see what you are only when you see yourself on the screen.

We promise the metallic paint was non-toxic this time.

Movies interesting enough that I want to write about them: 1 (guess which)

Conclusion: Must see more interesting movies in 2010.

Any suggestions?1

1. All 2010 Oscar winners are already on the list.

  1. If you have not seen "Hedwig and the Angry Inch", I will recommend that. And not just because it has an awesome soundtrack.

  2. What a coincidence. I actually have the Hedwig soundtrack, and the movie.

For movie recommendations I read Twitch.com and DreadCentral.com. I'm betting you've seen "Brothers Bloom" and "Moon". Have you seen "Special" (2006) or "Defendor" (2009)? "Ong Bak 2" and "Chocolate" (2008) and the last two Zatoichi films if you want some nice foreign martial arts. "Funky Forest" and "Survive Style 5+" for Japanese weirdness. "Antichrist" if you want to feel generally ill. For upcoming movies, which I actually haven't seen so I don't know if they're any good: "Tucker and Dale Vs. Evil", "Heartless" (British), "Zonad" (British), "Viy" (Russian), "Adele Blanc-Sec" (French), "Les Dents de la Nuit" (French, but the english title is "Vampire Party").

  3. I have procured "Moon" and will watch it. Actually it was slipped into my pocket on a CDR by a homeless man after we had ramen. But I have it and will watch it.

I have seen Brothers Bloom. I have seen some Funky Forest, but none of the others, and they're all on my list now. Ho ho ho!
